Located in the upscale Crescent neighborhood, near downtown Charleston, the Harken residence was originally going to be a renovation for the master bedroom and bath. After evaluating the project, Buz Morris suggested creating a new den and using the existing den for a full master suite. The owner was a sailor, the design precedence for the ceiling was from a Herreshoff sailboat.
